LEROY MORGAN, 69, of Bergholz, OH, died in Amsterdam, OH, Friday, November 14, 2008 following a lengthy illness, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Derendia Morgan, with whom he was staying. He was born in Bergholz, OH, September 22, 1939, a son of the late Raymond and Virginia (Mayle) Morgan. He is also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Gene, Pete, Dick and Jimmy Morgan and one sister, "Sis" Cheuvront. He retired from Republic Steel in 1999 after 32 years service. He graduated in 1959 from Springfield High School where he played football and wrestled. He was the first Springfield Tiger to compete at a state tournament in the 112 pound weight class. He was an avid sports fan who loved his Brown's, Cav's, Buckeye's and Indians". He loved fishing, making many trips to Canada. His favorite lakes in which to fish were Pymatuming and Mosquito Lakes. He is survived by his former wife, JoAnn, sons, Steven (Derendia) Morgan, Mike Morgan and companion, Cheryl Nelson, Coon Valley, Wisconsin, 2 daughters, Noli (Jim) Buxton, Carrollton and Michelle (Richard) Straight, Minerva, 4 sisters, Eileen (Bud) Baker, Salem, Sandy (Don) Halbert, Ocala, Florida, Carol (Jerry) Yates, Canton, and Kay Short of North Carolina; his grandchildren's names are: Samantha, Kelly, Montana, Hayley, Stacey, Joey, Anthony, Alivia, Nikki, Michael, Kristy, Courtney, Elizabeth and Michelle, great-grandchildren, Cameron and Cheyenne, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 285 Second St., Bergholz on Thursday from 1 until 5 PM where funeral services will follow at 5 PM with Jerry Yates officiating.
