Obituary

LOWELL E. CHANDLER, 70, of Wintersville, OH, died at 7:05 PM Wednesday, October 05, 2005 in his home following a brief illness. In his early years, he worked for Titanium Metal Products, Toronto. After graduating from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, he was a funeral director/embalmer and a co-owner of the McClave- Chandler- Mills Funeral Home of Steubenville/Wintersville retiring December 31, 1987. He held a professional support staff position with the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, Richmond from 1993 until present. He was a member of the Ohio and National Funeral Directors Assn and the Ohio Embalmers Assn. He was born June 8, 1935 in Sunbury, OH, a son of the late Theodore and Thelma H. (Saunders) Chandler. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie Donohue who died in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Mona Lou (Clark) Chandler whom he married November 4, 1961, by two daughters, Victoria Lee Chandler, Pembroke Pines, FL and Cynthia Ann Seese and husband Michael, Twinsburg, OH; a son-in-law, Patrick Donohue, Hopedale, one sister, Patricia Ann Hoggarth and husband, Tom, Fargo, ND; sister and brother-in-law, Martha Ann and Peter Olivito, Richmond; by grandchildren Sean Chandler Donohue, Valerie Marie Seese, Clark Allen Seese, and several nieces and nephews. Lowell was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman and belonged to the National Turkey Wildlife Federation. He was a member of the Bell Chapel United Methodist Church; Masonic Lodge #45, F & AM, Steubenville, the Steubenville Shrine Club and was a 32 degree mason with the Valley of Steubenville. He served on Okinawa with the US Air Force in the late 1950's. Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond, Thursday from 7-9 PM and again Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM where funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday with the Reverend Jeff Proya officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery, Steubenville with graveside military honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
