Mark Thomas Clark, 71, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 23, 2022, at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center. He was born April 1, 1950, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Dean Thomas Clark and Jacqueline Rose Clark-Haynes.
Mark is survived by his wife, Keum Yon; sons, Sean (Jacquelyn) Clark of Denver, CO, and Jeremy Clark of Steubenville; brother, Marshall (Linda) Clark of Scio, OH; sister, Shauna McCoy of Steubenville; nephews and nieces, Joshua (Shelly) Clark, Ryan (Courtney) Clancey, Cary (Millie) Clancey, Kelly (Brandon) Monigold and Joelle McCoy; great-nieces and great-nephews, Alex Clancey, Ava Bane, Sabrina Monigold, Audrey Clark, Nash Clancey and, Alden Barnhart.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his stepfather, Edward Haynes.
Mark graduated from Jefferson Union High School in 1968. While serving in the US Army in Korea, he met the beautiful Lee Keum Yon, who would become his wife of 51 years. He was an Edison Local school bus driver for 38 years and an Island Creek Township trustee for 20 years. Mark was often described as being a "friend to everyone" and was always ready to lend his time, lend a hand, or even just lend an ear. Mark loved reading to children at Pleasant Hill Elementary School and teaching children in Sunday school at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church where he worshiped. Mark was baptized at New Somerset Christian Church and worshiped with many church families including Hilltop Presbyterian Church and First Westminster Presbyterian Church. Mark loved being outside in the fresh air, and farming was an important part of his entire life and ancestry. He was an active member of Farm Bureau and Richmond American Legion Post 740. Mark was also very proud to be an extra in the movies, Deer Hunter, The Avengers, and Old Fashioned.
A private family service was held at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, Wintersville, followed by a private burial at Center Chapel Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate Mark's life will be held at a later time.
Special thanks are extended to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center that cared for Mark and to everyone for their love, support, and prayers.
