Mary Ellen Sutton

Mary Ellen Sutton, 98, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away April 24, 2026 at Magnolia Manor. She was born July 14, 1927 in Salem, WV, a daughter of the late Cleaoras and Lucy (Jenkins) Holtz. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Sutton; siblings, James “Jim” Holtz, William “Bill” Holtz, Charles “Chuck” Holtz, Naomi Phillips, and Patricia Maditz

Mary was a charter member of Wintersville Community Chapel. She loved crafting especially making things with plastic canvas. She was a devoted wife always following Vance on various adventures including traveling the entire USA and performing in the band Twin Hills Bluegrass where Mary played standup bass. Mary also enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Black of Hopedale, OH, Michael (Cindy) Sutton of Marietta, GA, and Rhonda (Trevor) Thompson of New Franklin, OH; grandchildren, Jodi Black of Hopedale, OH, Shane (Stacy) Sutton of Marietta, GA, Aly (Brian) Harris of Nashville, TN, and Kevin Thompson of Norton, OH; two great-grandchildren, Charlie Sutton and Sutton Harris.

Friends will be received at the Everhart- Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville on Thursday from 1 PM until time of funeral services at 2 PM with Pastor Mike Mantos officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville.
