Matthew Serdar, 83, of Richmond, Ohio, passed away Saturday, January 13th, 2018, at Sienna Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wintersville, Ohio, after a long struggle with cancer. He was born October 30, 1934, in Weirton, WV and was raised on the family farm in Bergholz, OH

Matt retired from a job he loved at Weirton Steel after working there for 47 years as a pipe fitter in the blast furnace and sheet mill

After his retirement he loved tinkering in the garage and working on cars. He could fabricate most anything to make a job easier.

He served in the Army National Guard during the Korean War at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri

He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Serdar and mother, Mildred Serdar(Stepanovich).

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Arlene Serdar(Wolf), son Mark (Melissa) Serdar of Greensboro, NC, daughter Brenda Serdar of Richmond, OH, grandsons Michael Serdar of Madison, NC and Charles Bullins of New Philadelphia, OH and 2 great grandsons, brother Bobby (Judy) Serdar of East Springfield, OH sister Ann (Harry) McKnight of Columbus, OH and his loyal companion, Buddy

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main Street, Richmond, OH on Tuesday from 11 AM until time of funeral services at 1 PM.
