Merrell J. Yocum, 88, of Richmond, OH, passed away June 14, 2017 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH.

He was born November 7, 1928 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Marie Yocum Pastors.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Jean M. Yocum and his infant daughter, Paula Ann Yocum.

He served his country in the United States Army Air Force.

Merrell was employed by National Steel Corporation, Steubenville Plant, as an electrician, retiring in 1982. He is a member of the Toronto American Legion Post 86.

He is survived by his five children, Bill (Elida) Yocum of Steubenville, Janet (Robert) Hoobler of Toronto, Patricia (Kenneth) Simeral of Richmond, Mark Yocum of Richmond, and Kathryn Yocum of Richmond; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
