MERVIN DEAN WHITE, 80, of Amsterdam, Oh, went to be with the Lord on his 80th birthday early Monday, January 01, 2007 at the Valley Hospice Pallative Care Center, Steubenville. He was a retired miner from Jensie Coal Mine, a veteran of the US Army and an active member of the Hope Church in Amsterdam. Dean was a long time member of the Country Boys Band, an old style country music band that played at nursing homes and charitable functions. He played mandolin, violin, harmonicas, guitars, banjo, and accordian. He enjoyed woodworking and recently made his own mandolin.
He was born in Germano, OH, January 1, 1927, a son of the late David and Lola (Wagner) White. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Lenkey. He is survived by his wife, Twyla (Hoobler) White whom he married July 23, 1983; by his children: Joyce White and Melissa White, both of Michigan, Kenneth (Sandy) Dorsey, Richmond, Linda (Floyd) Grimes, and Carol (Butch) Laneve, both of Amsterdam, Clifford (Cindy) Dorsey of Malvern, and Barbara (Doug) Merrin of Bloomingdale; by a brother, Donald (Mary) White, Hopedale, by sisters, Mick Hemmelspah, Salem, Faye McAfee, Hopedale, Francis (Bob) Thompson, Scio, Joanne (Ed) McAfee, Jewett and Jean (Cloyd) Howell, Germano, by 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Dean will be Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond from 2-4 and 7-9 PM where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday with Pastor Tom Chain officiating.
