MORDIE GRIFFITH, Jr., 89, a lifelong Bergholz resident, passed away Monday, November 07, 2005 in Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH following a brief illness. He and his wife, Esty, were dairy farmers in Bergholz until their retirement in 1976. He was a member of the Bergholz Trinity United Presbyterian Church where he had served as a trustee and an elder; was a longtime member of the Bergholz Ruritan Club, the Bergholz Community Foundation and the Jefferson County Farm Bureau. Mordie was born in Bergholz, OH, October 23, 1916, a son of the late Mord and Jennie (Beadnell) Griffith. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Cecil Griffith and Delmer Griffith. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Esqueline Jane "Esty" (Harris) Griffith; by one son, Gary (Linda) Griffith, Bergholz, 2 daughters, Mary Jane Griffith, Lauderdale Lakes, FL and Ruth Ann (Bob) Kirkman, Bergholz and an aunt, Pearl Davidson, Salineville, OH. He has 9 grandchildren: Megan (Todd) English, Ashley Griffith, Michael (Valerie) Stine, Matthew, Dustin, and Brandon Miller; Michele (Robbie) Gribben, Marisa Carpenter and Jake Kirkman; 2 great-grandchildren: Jennie Stine and Cameron Gribben and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 287 Second St., Bergholz, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday. Funeral services for Mordie will be at 11 AM Thursday at the Bergholz United Presbyterian Church, Second St., Bergholz with the Rev. Kenneth A. Perreault, Jr. officiating.
