Pastor John Albert Hearn, 75 of Scio , Ohio , formerly of Richmond , Ohio passed into Heaven on January 10, 2011 after a battle with cancer.

He was born April 26, 1935 in Steubenville , Ohio , a son of the late Lindeth and Nancy Hicks Hearn.

John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Mary Smith Hearn. Three sons John Richard and wife Kimberly of St. Clairsville, David of Scio, and Donald and wife Donna of Belmont. Two grandsons Jacob and Issac.

John was a 1954 graduate of Steubenville Big Red High School , a member of Scio First Presbyterian Church where he became a Commissioned Lay Pastor on September 18, 1966 .

He retired from the United States Postal Service, as Post Master of Richmond, Ohio after 30 years of service. After that he went into the ministry as a Commissioned Lay Pastor for the Upper Ohio Valley Presbytery serving the Richmond United Presbyterian Church for 15 years. During that time he also served as Pastor of the Eastern Ohio Correctional Center .

John served in the Naval Reserves for 8 years, was an avid gardener, fisherman, hunter and member of the Ohio Husky Muskie Association.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the Richmond United Presbyterian Church. Services at the church on Friday at 11 AM with Reverend Robert Shearer officiating. Burial will follow at the Richmond U. P. Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be made to Richmond United Presbyterian Church, 310 East Main St , Richmond , OH 43944 .
