Obituary

Perry Albert Horkey, 73, has gone to be with his heavenly father on July 24, 2023.

Perry was a former resident of Amsterdam, Ohio. He was born to Albert and Sophia Horkey on September 28, 1949, in Steubenville, Ohio.

Survived by his loving wife Mary of 53 years, sons Scott (Misty) of Adena, Ohio, Cory of Killbuck, Ohio and grandchildren Katie and Andrew. Also surviving are his sisters, Jan Morley of Bergholz, Ohio, Jill Carrel of Tucson, Arizona, and Lori (Carl) Coffland of Scio, Ohio.

Preceding in death are his parents Albert and Sophie Horkey and brother Dane.

Perry was a Methodist by faith, a veteran of the Vietnam war where he served honorably in the United States Coast Guard.

He worked in social services including the Community Action Council, director of Goodwill Industries and Prime Time on Aging.

Perry was a member of the Steubenville Rotary Club where he served as chaplain and board of directors.

He was a graduate of Jefferson Technical College and earned a B.S. degree at Franciscan University.

Perry enjoyed playing his guitar, writing music, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Those we hold dear never truly leave us. They live on through the moments they shared in our lives.

A memorial service will be held at Bergholz Cemetery on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 11 AM with full Military Honors.
