Obituary

Raymond Keith Adams, 84, loving husband, father, and grandfather of Steubenville, OH, passed away April 8, 2016 at Belmont Manor Nursing Home, Saint Clairsville, OH.

He was born August 27, 1931 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Raymond A. Adams and Nellie (Davis) Adams Miller.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Clara Mae Adams who he married on December 9, 1950 and she passed away December 27, 2011. He was also preceded in death by an infant son Charles Keith Adams.

He was an actively involved member at Bell Chapel Church where he was a member of the choir.

Raymond was a 1950 graduate from Steubenville High School. He retired on December 30, 1994 from Wheeling-Pitt Steel where he worked as a master machinist for 42 years.

He was a member of the Ohio Valley Coin Club, United Steel Workers, and a Scout Leader of Troop 141. Raymond built and flew his own model airplanes. He made miniature steam engines. Raymond was an amateur gunsmith. He collected HO scale trains. Raymond was an avid reader of fiction and nonfiction books and magazines. His favorite author was Clive Cussler. He enjoyed woodworking, lapidary, rock hunting, cutting, and polishing stones and jewelry making. He was a volunteer fire fighter for Pleasant Hill VFD.

Raymond is survived by his sons, Raymond L. (Christine Estes) Adams of Orange Park, Florida and Tommy (Phyllis) Adams of Maryville, Missouri; daughters, Carolyn (John) Wroten of Wheeling, WV and Beverly (Harold) Kellermier of Largo, Florida; sisters, Mrs. Geraldine (William) Abdi of Silver Springs, MD, Mrs. Burla (Lonnie) Williams of New Cumberland, WV, and Mrs. Virginia (Richard) Howell of Mingo Jct., OH; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bonar of California and Patty Simmons of Brilliant, OH; grandchildren, Brian (Dana) Adams and Kara (Brian) Welch, John Wroten, Jessica and Kristina Kellemier; and 2 great grandchildren, Ellie Marie Welch and Gannon Grafton Adams.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Bell Chapel Church, 3419 St Rt 213, Steubenville with Pastor Jeff Proya officiating.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Steubenville.
