Robert Edgar Anderson, 78 of Richmond , Ohio passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at Weirton Medical Center .

He was born May 11, 1932 in Charleston , WV , a son of the late Charles and Sallie Morgan Anderson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother Mildred Zerkle Rousch and sister, Lila Whalan.

Robert was a Veteran of the US Marines serving during the Korean Conflict and receiving the Purple Heart. He was a retired pipe fitter from Weirton Steel. He was a member of Steubenville Moose, Weirton Elks, Weirton BPO Lodge, Wintersville American Legion Stevens-Christian Post #557, Unionport Masonic Lodge F&AM #333, DAV, and was Methodist by faith.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Mary Burkhalter of Wheeling, WV; three daughters, Roxanne (Kurt) Kuhn of Arnold, MD, Kim Oka of Annapolis, MD, and Jacqueline Anderson of Santa Monica, CA; three step-sons, James (Charlotte) Beck of Richmond, VA, William (Theresa) Beck of Mesa, AZ, and Michael (Tanis) Beck of Madison, TN; two brothers, James Zerkle of Weirton, WV and Donald Anderson of Steubenville, OH; two sisters, Gladys Dye of Schumberg, IL and Jane Wright of Florida; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
