Robert L. "Bob" Clevenger, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at home. He was born June 8, 1930, son of the late Oren Boyd & Wavelene Davis Clevenger, of Industrial, WV. Bob was preceded in death by his step-mother Virginia Clevenger, three brothers, Oren "Butch" Clevenger, Ronald Clevenger, and Johnny Clevenger, daughter Sandra McGinnis and son Mark Hitt.
Bob was a Korean War Navy Veteran. He retired from Weirton Steel as an overhead crane operator. He was a member of Bell Chapel UMC. One of his proudest accomplishments was his role in the construction of Bell Chapel. He served as past president and secretary of the UMM, past chairmen of the trustee committee, and member of the PPR committee. Bob was also a member of the F & AM Lodge 583, Royal Arch Masons, Chapter 221, The Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville and American Legion post 557.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, 4 months, and 20 wonderful days Wanda (Crislip) Clevenger. A son, Robert (Tori) Clevenger Jr, CO; Daughters, Nancy McComb, GA, JoLynn (Wayne) Laverinc VA, Candy Hitt, Steubenville, Valerie (Adam) Gorby, Columbus, Robyn (Rick) Lyons, IN, Cindi (Richard) Haught, Toronto, and Kelley (Johnny) Allison, Steubenville. Five brothers; Harold (Terri) Clevenger, Mike (Jeanie) Clevenger, Randy (Darcelle) Clevenger of Steubenville, Greg and Tracey Clevenger, WV, one step-brother George (Sharon) Carpenter, VA. Sisters; Janet Burch and Lucretia (Greg) Kelley, WV, step-sisters Laura Wilson and Pricilla Pierce, WV. Brothers in Law Gene and Allen (Sarah) Crislip and Sister in Law Linda Crislip of OH. Daughter in Law; Mickey Hitt, Steubenville; Niece; Tracie Secrist, Steubenville. Special Aunt, Hazel Clevenger of WV. Beloved grand-children; Matt (Stephanie), Lindsay, Christopher, Dani, Calie, Brian, Erin, Heather, Amanda, Brandon, Tina, David and Brandon. As well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday 6-8 PM at the Everhart- Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville with Masonic service at 7 p.m. and Thursday at Bell Chapel UMC, St. Rt. 213, from noon until the time of services at 1 p.m. Rev. Jeff Proya officiating.
Burial will follow with Military graveside services at Fort Steuben Burial Estates
