Obituary

ROBERT WARNER DYE, 84, of Richmond, OH, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in his home following a lengthy illness. He retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Company as a yardmaster and was a veteran of the US Air Force Second Lieutenant where he was a pilot and taught flying. After the military, he continued to teach flying at the Sunset Airport, Richmond. He was very involved with the Edison Local School District and the old Jefferson Union School. He ran the football clock for 50 years and the basketball clock for 40 years and was a school bus driver for 33 years. Upon retirement, he bought the family farm and raised cattle. He was a 60year member of the Unionport Lodge #333, F&AM and belonged to the Richmond American Legion Post #740 and the Richmond United Methodist Church. Warner was born in Richmond, OH, January 28, 1923, a son of the late Clyde and Bertha (White) Dye. He is also preceded in death by a son, Robert Bruce Dye who died July 25, 2006 and by 4 brothers, Arthur, Donald, Glenn and Harry. On December 12, 1947, Warner married his childhood sweetheart, Lois L. Kemp who survives. In addition to Bruce, they had 5 children. Deborah Campana and husband, Joe, and Maylee Semko and husband Richard, and Leonard Dye all live in Wintersville; Heather Dye lives in Wheeling, WV and Eric Dye lives in Richmond and daughter-in-law Betty Dye of Steubenville. Their grandchildren are Lance Roush, Danielle Allen and husband Shane, Waylon Dye and Robert (Bobby) Gillette. Great grandchildren are Damien Roush and Preston and Carson Warner Allen. Step grandchildren are Eric Gibson, Marcy Olnhausen and husband Jeff, and step great grandchildren, Mary and Sarah Olnhausen and Larissa Gibson. Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond on Thursday from 1 until 8 PM. Funeral Services will follow visitation at 8 PM at the funeral home with the Reverend Carol Smith officiating. Burial will be in Richmond Union Cemetery with military honors and at the convenience of the family. Masonic services will be held at 6 PM on Thursday.
