Robert E. Hendrix, 80, passed away Tuesday July 3, 2012 at The Sienna Woods Nursing Facility in Wintersville, OH.
He was born October 28, 1931 in East Springfield, OH, son of the late Jay and Laura (Potts) Hendrix.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by sisters, Maxine Bonham and Mary Hamilton; brothers, William and Jack Hendrix; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was employed by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation as a crane operator and retired in 1983.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Guida of Richmond, Ohio; granddaughter, Kelli Guida of Denver, NC; and grandson, J.J. Guida of Richmond, Ohio.
He is also survived by his former wife, Elizabeth Hendrix of Wintersville; sister, Esther Mae Galloway of Akron, Ohio; cousin, Calvin Russell of Richmond; and his two special "Buddies" Roy Jones and Rich Calevro of Wintersville.
Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the America Legion, Mingo and Jefferson Sportsman Club, and the Ohio Trappers Association.
He was Methodist by faith. Bob loved hunting and fishing. He was always ready with his fishing gear and loved the outdoors.
He never knew a stranger and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
His family would like to thank Dr. John Figel and Dr. Sudhir Malik and the entire staff of Sienna Woods Nursing Facility for all the great care and kindness he received.
Friends may call on Friday July 6 from 6-9 PM at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville where funeral services will be held on Saturday July 7 at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Bill Hibbs officiating.
Burial will follow at East Springfield Cemetery.
