ROBERT BRUCE "Stump" DYE: Sadly, we have lost one of the best horsemen in the area with the death of Robert Bruce Dye, age 54, of Richmond, OH, who passed away suddenly Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at his home of natural causes.
Bruce was born April 30, 1952 in Steubenville, OH, the son of Warner and Lois (Kemp) Dye. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clyde and Bertha Dye, and by his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Margaret Kemp.
Bruce was employed by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel for 33 years where he was a crane operator in the Mingo plant and was known as "Stump" and "Two Bit". He served in the US Army. He was an "old cowboy" who loved riding and raising horses and mules. Bruce loved to talk with people. He was a devoted son.
He was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Richmond Post #740 an active 4-H supporter, and a previous member of the Steubenville Saddle Club.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Waylon L. Dye, of Richmond, OH, his stepson, Eric C. Gibson, of Richmond, OH, his stepdaughter, Marcy (Jeff) Olnhausen of Temperance, MI, two brothers, Lenny Dye of Wintersville, OH and Eric Dye of Richmond, OH, three sisters, Debbie (Joe) Campana of Wintersville, OH and Maylee (Rich) Semko, of Wintersville, OH and Heather Dye of Wheeling, WV; three grandchildren who called him "Pappy", Larissa Gibson and Mary and Sarah Olnhausen; his former wife and mother of his children, Betty Dye of Weirton, WV; his aunt Jackie Clark Haynes of Steubenville, OH, his cousins, nieces and nephews, many friends and his dog, Levi.
Calling hours for Bruce will be 2 - 4 PM and 6 - 8 PM Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond, where a Celebration of his life will follow at 8 PM. Pastor Jeff Proya will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bruce's name to Four Seasons Ministries, c/o Bell Chapel Church, 3419 St. Rt. 213, Steubenville, OH 43952.
