RONALD D. PUGH, 71, of Wintersville, OH, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 in the emergency room of Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville following a sudden illness.
He was born in East Liverpool, Ohio February 20, 1939, a son of the late John D. and Regina Adel (Lingg) Pugh.
He is a veteran of the US Army and worked production at the 80" hot strip mill at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel prior to his retirement. He was a member of Word of Life Fellowship.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Mumaw) Pugh whom he married September 9, 1961 and by a daughter, Kim A. (Gary) Beebe of Wintersville; by 3 sons, Ronald J. (Dawn) Pugh, Richmond, Craig A. (Michelle) Pugh of New Philadelphia, Ohio and Dean E. (Carla) Pugh of Bloomingdale, his grandchildren Jordan (Kelly) Beebe, Brandie (Barry) Kroon, Alexis, Alayna and Andrew Pugh, Caleb, Simon, Nathan and Nolan Pugh, and Jenna and Wyatt Pugh; a brother, John Pugh of Steubenville and two sisters, Jean Vein of St. Petersburg, FL and Shirley Ryan of Wintersivlle.
Ron's enthusiasm for his grandkids who played Indian Creek sports was contagious. He was the originator of the cheering chant, "The Creek is a Risin'": a familiar chant now used to spur the team on when they are down a bit. He was an avid supporter of the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeys.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 AM with Pastor Jeff Greco officiating.
Burial will follow in Ft. Steuben.
