Ruth Ellen (Stanley) Farmer, 69, passed on to her heavenly reward on Friday, October 28, 2016 surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout it all she maintained a positive and graceful attitude.

She is preceded in death by her father, Arthur Stanley; her mother, Evelyn Stanley; her sister, Nancy Stanley Leiter and her husband, Gary Leiter; her son, Joel Farmer; and her grandson, Angel Farmer.

She leaves behind her husband of 41 years, Enoch Farmer; her sons, Andy (Deida) and Doug (Erin); her sister, Karen Stanley Goddard (Fred); her brother-in-law, Lou (Barbara); her sister-in-law, Sue (Jim); her mother-in-law, Mary Lou Farmer; her grandsons, Alejandro, Santiago, and Andres; her granddaughter, Molly; and her cherished nieces, Michelle, Kristin, Ericka, Melissa, Megan and nephews, Joshua, Keith, and Cory.

She graduated from Springfield High School and Otterbein College. She spent her 39 year career doing what she loved to do, teach. She was a charter member of the faculty of the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School, where she taught Food Service/ Culinary Arts until her retirement in 2008. She had the honor to teach two generations of students during her tenure. She was an active member of both the Ohio and National Education Associations. She was also a member of the Alpha Mu chapter of the honorary educator's sorority Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was an active member of the East Springfield United Methodist Church of the Cross, where she served on multiple committees. She had very close relationship with her God. One of her favorite spots was Camp Waneke. She worked there during her summers at college as a staff cook with her sorority sister and lifelong friend Lee. She loved travel and adventure a passion learned from her father and passed on to her sons. It was upon one of her traveling adventures to Hawaii that she met Enoch. Twenty five years later, they renewed their wedding vows at sunset on the beach in Kona, Hawaii. Her family was the soul of her life. She loved them and they loved her. She will be missed greatly but with this comes the blessing that her pain and suffering has ended and she will be with her eternal family until we all are once again together.
