SARAH J. WOOD, 85, of Wintersville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 03, 2011 at Valley Hospice North, Steubenville.

She was born May 21, 1925 in Steubenville, Ohio, to the late Harry and Etta (Ward) Watt. She is also preceded in death by her husband, John S. Wood whom she married December 30, 1945 and who died September 11, 2005; by a son, John F. Wood, by a great-grandson and by her five sisters, Lillian Myers, Irene Miles, Ruth Foster, Nettie Ferguson and Bessie Moran.

Sarah had been a cook at Wintersville High School and formerly a meat cutter for the Kroger Company. Prior to that, she had been a clerk at Peoples Drug.

She was devoted to her family, had been an active member of Brentwood United Methodist Church and was an avid gardener.

She is survived by her son, Michael T. Wood and daughters, Charlotta (Leland) McConnell and Alice J. Rich, all of Wintersville, by 10 grandchildren, Lisa (Brady) Snyder, Christina Wood, Brandy (Bo) Bowman, Sarah (Chris) Kauffman, Anna (John) Yocom, Jennifer Rich, Ashley (Wyatt) Messerly and Michael J., Matthew and Jonathon Wood.

Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd, Wintersville on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday with the Reverend Clint Quillen officiating.

Burial will be in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates.
