Sharon Ann Simmons 75 of Wintersville, Ohio, surrounded by her children passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Trinity Medical Center West after a courageous battle with the Covid-19 virus.

She was born August 30, 1945 in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ernest and Agnes (Gardner) Hibbits, Sr. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Martin "Dale" Simmons; an infant son; daughter, Cheryl A. Hashbarger; brother, Ernest Hibbits, Jr.; and sister, Lois Jean Wilson.

She reaffirmed her commitment to Christ this summer and was a Methodist by faith. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalms 23.

In living true to the word of James 1:27, Sharon was a foster parent for 30 years. She was former president and vice-president of Jefferson County Foster Parents. She was former president of Beaufort, SC football league where she was also cheering commander.

She is survived by her children, Edward B. (Regina) Hashbarger Jr., Kurt R. (Sherry) Hashbarger, Karen L. (Rick) Kirkpatrick, Eric A. Hashbarger, and foster son, William (Melinda) Mellott; siblings, Ronald Hibbits, Donna (Jim) Adkinson and Linda (Bill) LaRue; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

As Per Sharon's wishes private services to be held at the convenience of the family. Interment at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
