HONOLULU, HAWAII - SHIRLEE RUTH GARRETT SHIMABUKURO Shirlee was born November 29, 1928 in Steubenville, Ohio and passed away in Honolulu July 10, 2006. She graduated from Steubenville High School in 1947 and worked in nearby Wellsville and Cleveland. She went on to graduate from a bible college in Springfield, Missouri receiving a degree in Christian education. Shirlee moved to Hawaii in 1959 and was very active in church ministries. Shirlee was the daughter of Jerome & Beulah Sophia (Williamson) Garrett. Her father, Jerome, went to be with the Lord when she was in her twenties. Beulah later married George Halsted and they moved to Hawaii in the early 60's and resided there until Beulah's death in January 1985. Shirlee and her husband, Glenn, met at the former 1st Southern Baptist Church of Aiea and were married March 21, 1974 in Honolulu, Hawaii. They later became members of Kapahulu Bible Church of the Christian & Missionary Alliance. Shirlee is survived by her husband Glenn and his family in Hawaii; by her step-father, George and his wife, Dorothy Halsted of Edmonds, WA; and by 6 cousins, Ralph Miller and wife, Peggy of Bloomingdale, John Miller and wife Audrey of Glen Burnie, MD, Denise Miller-Shields and Marsha Trzaskoma and husband, Ted, all of Richmond, Dale Williamson and wife Arletta and Wayne "Jake" Williamson and wife Edna, all of Carrollton. Friends and family are invited to attend a brief committal service 10 AM Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the Fort Steuben Burial Estates Chapel in Wintersville with the Reverend Jason Elliott officiating. A luncheon and time of visitation will follow at Bell Chapel Methodist Church, St. Rt. 213, Steubenville.
