Shirley McClurg Boyd, 78 of Irondale, Ohio passed away Wednesday, September 02, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville. She was born November 11, 1930 in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late William and Phyllis Carman McClurg. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Joy Boyd in 1982, two sisters Mary Caruso and Wilda Boyd, a brother Dale McClurg. Shirley was a 1948 graduate of Jefferson Union High School. She received her Bachelors Degree from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. She served as Ross Twp Clerk for eight years from 1963 until 1971 and was a retired teacher with the Edison Local School District. She attended Carrolton Assembly of God. Shirley is survived by her husband Emerson R. Boyd, whom she married on May 16, 1949. Two sons Danny (Janna) Boyd and Tod (Wendy) Boyd both of Stanardsville, VA. A daughter Kathy (Henry) Ruiz of Waynesboro, VA. A brother Waldon McClurg of Barberton, Ohio. Six grandchildren.
