Obituary

STEVEN M. PESTA, 54, of Irondale, OH, died Wednesday, July 21, 2009 in Trinity Medical Center West Emergency Room following a chronic recurring illness. He was born August 19, 1954 in Steubenville, OH a son of the late David M. and Muriel Ruth (Houghton) Pesta. He is also preceded in death by a brother, David Michael Pesta. Steve matriculated at Kent State University and graduated from New York Regency College while serving in the US Navy. After the Navy, he worked at Weirton Steel from 1972 - 1982 and then was the attendance officer for the Edison Local School District. He currently taught at Jefferson Community College in the Adult Basic Literacy Education Program and served as a Ross Township Trustee from 2000 until present. He loved farming, gardening and being in the country. He was a reader and an antique enthusiast having restored a 1954 Jeep and currently working on an 1842 farmhouse. He is a member of the Brentwood Church, Wintersville and holds a very special place in his community. He is a loving father to his children, Heath and Haley, is married to his loving wife of 27 years, Melody E. (Eggleston) Pesta who survives, and is brother to Dan (Christine) Pesta of Front Royal, VA, Glenn (Wanda) Pesta of Pacific, Missouri and John Pesta of St. Clairsville. Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday with the Reverend Bill Westling officiating. Full military honors will follow. Burial will be at the convenience of the family and online condolences may be sent to everhart-bovefuneralhomes.com.
