THOMAS J. "Peachy" GEARY, SR, 74, of Wintersville, OH, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 in Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville.
He was born in Steubenville, OH, July 25, 1935, a son of the late William C. and Dorothy (Philabaum) Geary. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Donald and a sister, Barbara Ann.
He served in the US Navy and retired in 1987 from the pipe shop at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He bowled in many different leagues at the All-American Lanes. He was a former member of the Steubenville Moose, Toronto Rod and Gun club, and the Hopedale Muskie, Inc. and the Ohio Huskie-Muskie Club. During his years in Richmond, he had been the constable and assistant Fire Chief and a former Scout Leader. He had also coached Little League and Babe Ruth in Wintersville.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Connie (Hodgkiss) Geary, by four sons, Charles W. (Dawn) Geary of Butler, PA, Timothy R. Geary of Wintersville, Thomas J. "Jake" (Robin) Geary, Jr. of Wintersville and T. Michael Geary of Ohio; a daughter, Patricia A. (Muhammad) Janjua of Wintersville;16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday with Pastor Tom Arehart officiating.
Burial will follow in Steubenville Union Cemetery.
