VERNA M. ELLIOTT, 94, of Richmond, Ohio passed away Monday, April 28, 2008 at her home. Verna was born February 9, 1914 in St. Mary's, WV, a daughter of the late Oliver and Sara Tricket Shingleton. She was a homemaker and a longstanding member of the Richmond United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Countryside Garden Club, Richmond Homemakers, and old Richmond Grange. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob C. Elliott, who passed January 1, 1996; two brothers, Everett and Lester Shingleton, and one sister, Margie Higgins. She is survived by a son, Jim (Eudora) Elliott of Toronto, OH and a daughter, Carolyn (Gary) Powers of Steubenville, OH; seven grandchildren, Gloria (David) Boring, Dave (Nancy) Elliott, Sharon (Brian) Carroll, Jason (Sarah) Elliott, Laurie (Peter) Wounaris, Shane Powers, and Joshua Powers, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday with Pastor Jason Elliott officiating.
