Virgil Wayne Russell, 84, of Bloomingdale , OH , passed away June 6, 2016 at Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville .

He was born December 8, 1931 , the son of the late Virgil M. and Iva Mae (Mercer) Russell.

He was Protestant by faith.

Wayne retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where he worked for 30 years.

Wayne was a lifelong farmer. He was a strong supporter and 25 year advisor for Jefferson County 4-H. Wayne was actively involved in his community and family, and he would help anyone in need.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years, Luanne (Saltsman) Russell; daughters, Julie (Bill) Davis of Amsterdam, Cindy (Jeff) Butash of Akron, Kathy Evanosky of Amsterdam, and Laurie (Scott) Dennis of Steubenville; 9 grandchildren, Brian, Darcy, Colin, and Renee Davis, Victoria and Logan Butash, Craig Russell, Emily and Abigail Dennis; and 2 great grandchildren, Wyatt and Aubree Russell.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 6-9 PM at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St. , Richmond where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Sam Davis officiating.

Burial will follow at East Springfield Cemetery .
