WILLIAM E. "Bill" ELLIOTT, 75, of Bergholz, OH, passed away in his home of natural causes Friday, March 13, 2009 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Bergholz, February 28, 1934. He is preceded in death by his mother, Agnes (Daugherty) Gordon, by his father, George Elliott and his step-father, William Gordon. He was employed first at Carrollton Manufacturing Co. then at Nelms #2 coal mine in Cadiz, OH. He was a self-employed carpenter and an avid fisherman. He was an elder in the Bergholz Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Marie (Scopel) Elliott, by 6 children, Colleen (Greg) Smitsky, Weirton, WV, Tallison Elliott, Bergholz, Brett (Cassandra) Elliott, Fayetteville, NC, Larry (Ronda) Mattern, Wintersville, John (Linda) Mattern, Wadsworth, OH and Alan (Melissa) Thomas of Kalama, WA; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 285 Second St., Bergholz on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be at 1 PM Wednesday at the Bergholz Church of Christ, Jefferson St., Bergholz with Pastor Dave Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Bergholz Cemetery.
