WILLIAM R. "Bill" HANLIN, 89, of East Springfield, OH, passed away in his home Tuesday evening, July 25, 2006. He was the owner/operator of the old H&M Garage in East Springfield which was a dealership at various times for Willys-Overland, Hudson and American Motors automobiles. He retired in 1984. He was a 1939 graduate of Ohio University and a long time member of the East Springfield United Methodist Church of the Cross where he served as a Sunday school teacher since 1946 and as the Choir Director. He was a director of the Jefferson County Historical Association and an active member of the Tri-State Harmonizers Barbershop Chorus. Bill was born in Steubenville, OH, March 29, 1917, a son of the late Frank Vincent Hanlin and Tracy W. Burchfield Hanlin. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Burns) Hanlin whom he married May 24, 1940; by one son, William R. Hanlin, Jr. and his wife, Denise of Delphos; 2 daughters, Suzanne Haines and husband William of Swansboro, NC and Janice Kay Tyler and husband William "Art" of Moundsville; by 6 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren with another to be born on Tuesday, and 5 step-great-grandchildren and by one sister, Margaret Ellen LaBrenz of St. John, Virgin Islands. Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday at the East Springfield United Methodist Church fo the Cross, St. Rt. 43, East Springfield with the Rev. Jarrod Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the East Springfield Cemetery.
