Donald Ray Swickard 88, of Richmond, Ohio passed away November 14, 2023 at Valley Hospice. He was born December 19, 1934 in Wintersville, Ohio, a son of the late Clifford and Alice (Martin) Swickard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Duane (Judy) Swickard; brothers-in-law, Robert Calhoun, Thomas Neuman, Thomas Albaugh, and Curtis Doan.
Don was a member and elder of the Richmond United Presbyterian Church, Richmond American Legion Post #740 Honored Seven, Past President of the Richmond Lions Club, Past Master of Unionport Masonic Lodge #333, Past Patron Unionport Chapter of the Eastern Star, former President Richmond Historical Society, Mingo Sportsman Club, Steubenville Rifle and Pistol Club, former Richmond Councilmen, Veteran of the US Army as a Paratrooper. He was retired from Weirton Steel and Everhart-Bove Funeral Homes.
Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca (Albaugh) Swickard; son, Brian Swickard; daughters, Dawn Ann (Miles) Brown, Holly (Scott) Gramling, Cathy (Scott) French; grandchildren, Derek (Samantha McIntosh) Gramling, Jacob Gramling, Katherine (Mitchell) Niemeyer, Madeline (Chandler) Youngkin, Chloe Swickard, Alexander Brown, Kari (Caleb) Stevenson, Kate (Scott) Avery, and Jonathan French; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Madelyn Stevenson and Lucas Avery; brothers, Clifford Gail (Cathy) Swickard and Ken (Donna) Swickard; sisters, Joan Doan, Faye (Gary) King and Glenna (William) Hemshrodt; sisters-in-law, Janet Neuman and Becky Albaugh.
Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond on Friday from 4-7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 AM with Pastor Bill Hibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Presbyterian Cemetery with military honors. Masonic service will be held on Friday at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Richmond Lions Club, P. O.
