Edith Lynn Kettlewell

On March 4, 2023, Edith Lynn Kettlewell, 76, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.  A lifelong Ohio resident, she had recently relocated to Florida to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.  

 She was born July 26, 1946, in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Harold and Ruth (Burns) Smuck. 

 Edith – Edi, as she was known to friends – graduated from Wintersville High School in 1964 and furthered her education at Ohio Valley School of Nursing and The Ohio State University.  While nursing wasn’t her first choice, she exceled in every aspect and served the community and Trinity, formerly St. John’s, for 40+ years.  Throughout her tenure, she served in roles such as Director of Nursing for the E.R. and Nursing Supervisor.  She will be remembered as a beacon of compassion and kindness, having provided comfort and care to countless patients and their families over her many years of service.  Her unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of others will continue to inspire. 

 As a true baby-boomer, Edi embodied the value of hard work and dedication.  She was a role model for her children, instilling in them the same strong work ethic that she lived by every day.  

 Edi had a passion for creating beauty and warmth, whether it was through her love of flowers, her beautiful pool-side garden, or her taste in home décor.  But her true joy was the opportunity to gather with loved ones, especially on Christmas Eve, where no one was a stranger at her table that was full of enough food to feed the whole town.  She took immense pride in supporting all her children and grandchildren at their events, and her unwavering generosity and love will be deeply missed. 

 Her family couldn’t imagine something strong enough to dim her light, but she will be remembered with love, always. 

 She will especially be remembered by her dog, Molly, who remained a faithful and devoted companion until the very end. 

 She will be missed by her husband of 42 years, Terry Kettlewell; her brother, David (Fatima) Smuck of Follansbee; brother-in-laws, David Kettlewell and Larry (Michelle) Kettlewell; her daughters, Erin (Adam) Branvold of Oviedo, FL and Melissa (John) Fitch of Wellsville, OH; grandchildren, Mikey (Michelle) Wood, Matt (Kristen) Wood, Johnny (Devyn) Wood, Liam Wells, Fiona Wells, and Tina Puligano,; 5 great-grandchildren, Kamryn Wood, Michael Wood, Brinley Wood, Maddie Wood, and Ryleigh Wood; and several nieces and nephews. 

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 3-6PM. A memorial service will follow at 6PM with Pastor Bill Westling officiating.
