Gary Blackburn (82) of Bloomingdale Ohio went to be with the Lord on Saturday November 26, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Blackburn. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, JoAnn Blackburn, his son Kevin (Tammy)Mills, daughter Kelly (Rob)Hammerton, daughter Katina (Doug)Campbell, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and sister Elaine Marker.
In this life he had many titles; US Navy submarine sailor and veteran, heavy equipment operator, mine safety officer, EMT, township clerk, photographer, fisherman, golfer, wood worker and serial entrepreneur who gave away more than he sold. But the title he was most proud of was the title of Christian. Gary served most of his life at the Christian Church of Unionport. Many of those years he spent as an elder, bringing people to Christ and helping them grow in their faith. He and JoAnn created a generational faith in their family that will continue to grow. He was humbled and passionate about being God’s representative on this Earth and did his best to make the most of the time he was given. He was loved by many and will be truly missed. But on Saturday night he finally heard the words he has been longing to hear, “Well done good and faithful servant.”
Friends will be received for visitation at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville, Ohio, on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 3-6 P.M. There will be a service held at 6 P.M. with Pastor Jeremy Kuttler officiating.
