James Hale

James L. Hale, 66 of Wintersville, died of natural causes on September 20, 2022, in his home.  He was the beloved brother of Gary (Judy) Slates of Wolf Run, Ohio; Peggy Perrine of Leesville, Ohio; and Sally (Jim) DeWalt of Leesville, Ohio.  He was born in Steubenville, Ohio, to Lester and Charlotte (Slates) Hale, who precede him in death.  His sister Beverly Hale, brother William Hale, brother Roger Hale and brother-in-law Nelson Perrine also precede him in death.  He is already terribly missed by his nephews Gary (Judita) Slates and Edward (Jessica) Hale, as well as his nieces Chris Leslie, Trish (Billy Boyes) Borntrager, Nancy (John) McKean, Sally Jo (Skip) Bernhart, and Sherri Chesla-Smith, in addition to cousins, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.  He leaves behind too many friends to name.  He was born in Steubenville and lived in the surrounding area.  He owned a small gas station/garage in Bergholz in the 1980’s and was a proud member of the Bergholz Fire Department, Police Force and employee of Allen Box Company.  He retired from Sal Chemical in Weirton, WV.  His infectious laugh, his love for yard sales and a good deal, his willingness and happiness to be helpful will be forever gone.  Calling hours will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 25th at Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, Wintersville, Ohio, service to follow at 12:00 noon with reception to be announced.  The family would like to extend their appreciate to Wayne Everhart and Daniel Bove for their friendship during Jim’s life, as well as his care during his time of passing.  In lieu of flowers, please support your charity of choice, and hug a family member just a little tighter.
