James Watkins

James “Jim” Wayne Watkins, 58, of Jewett, Ohio, passed away at home on August 30, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on May 1, 1965, in Weirton, West Virginia, to Willis “Skip” Watkins and the late Doris (Rogers) Watkins. In addition to his mother, Jim is preceded in death by his brothers, Kenny and David Watkins. 

After graduating high school, Jim served in the Air Force and was stationed in Germany. He enjoyed traveling across Europe during his time in the Air Force. Jim was an employee of XPO for more than 25 years, which he greatly enjoyed. He was an avid outdoorsman, and spent hours on end in one of his many tree stands. He also enjoyed spending many summers on Lake Erie fishing with his friends. In addition, he was a volunteer at Deerassic Park, and participated in many activities such as youth hunts. He was very passionate about their mission. 

In addition to his father, Jim is survived by his loving wife, Melissa “Missy; Lisa” (Campsey) Watkins of 27 years; his son, David Watkins; his daughters, Alexis and Mikayla Watkins; his brother, Tim (Heather) Watkins; his sister, Lisa (Daniel “Danny”) McKenney; his 2 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his four-legged bonus child, Taz; and many, many friends.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Jim’s hospice nurse, Sandy, for her care in the last months of his life.

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd, Wintersville, Ohio, on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 4 P.M. until time of services at 7 P.M.
