Michael Allen “Mike” Poe, 80, of Stratton, Ohio, passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 19, 2023, at the Carriage Inn in Steubenville, Ohio. He was born in Texas on August 13, 1943. The son of the late George Hampton Poe and Lorine Boyd (Poe) and Stepfather, David Boyd Sr. In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret (Mayle) Poe; and his son, Patrick Poe.
Mike served his country in the United States Navy on board the USS Shangri-La aircraft carrier as an aircraft refueler. After returning from duty, he worked for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. until his retirement. Then, went to work for his good friend, Marion Miller, at Walnut Valley Log Homes.
He loved going fishing, traveling, watching the Steelers, and going to watch his great grandchildren in their activities. He belonged to the Masons and the American Legion Post 33.
Mike is survived by his companion, Lynne Kennedy; stepchildren, David (Laura) Mayle, Jodie (Doug) Maple, and Carrie (Joe) Miller; grandchildren, Tiffany (Marco) Houpe, Doug (Brittany Rice) Maple, Zachary (Kylie) Maple, Joe Miller, and Annie Mayle; great grandchildren, Trinity, Micah, Houpe, Jacob Miller, Gage Maple, Bexley, Landry, Dillon Maple, and Mason Bailey; also survived by Jodi (Debbie) Boyd, David (Kathie) Boyd Jr., and Cheryl (Mike) Mieczkowski.
Friends may be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville, OH 43953, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 5 P.M. until time of service at 7 P.M. with Pastor Bill Westling officiating.
Memorial donations may be directed to Mike’s favorite charity, The Marco Houpe Foundation, 3100 Willow Springs Dr. Columbus, Ohio, for burn victims.
