Ronald John “Ronnie” Hout, 70, of Richmond, Ohio, died Monday, May 2, 2022, at Valley Hospice in Steubenville where he was surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born at Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville on June 20, 1951. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard D. Hout, who died on Dec. 25, 1980.
He was a 1969 graduate of Jefferson Union High School and West Liberty State College in 1973, where he earned a bachelor's of science degree in social studies. He worked at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. for 39 years before his retirement. He was a lifelong member of the Richmond United Methodist Church where he served on various committees. He was a car enthusiast and avid participant in swap meets and car shows throughout the Tri-State Area.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Hedges Hout of Richmond; sister Joyce (Ralph) Proffitt of Richmond; brother, Dennis (Linda) Hout of Toronto; longtime companion, Diana Johnston of New Manchester and her son James (Laura) Johnston of Follansbee and their son Cameron; nephews Ronnie Hout of Tampa, Fla.; Jack (Marian) Proffitt of Richmond, Ohio, and Randy (Hillari) Proffitt of Point Orange, Fla.; and niece Stacey (Rick) Snyder of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; and many great-nephews and great-nieces.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Road, Wintersville, Ohio, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022, and from 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, until time of services there at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Byron Bufkin officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Union Cemetery.
