Ruby Bell (Grammy Bell), 96, of Wintersville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 27, 2023. She was born on September 19, 1926, in Steubenville, Ohio, to the late Howard I. and Doris (Yates) Shumard. In addition to her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Ellsworth R. Bell; her infant daughter, Joyce; her daughter, Linda McClelland Rogers; her brothers, Charles Shumard, Robert Shumard, and William Shumard; and her sister, Norma Bell.
Left to cherish her memory is her twin sister, Ruth Nutting; her children, Carol (Jim) Alvey, Richard Bell, Dave (Patty) Bell, Rev. Steven E. (Connie) Bell, and Brian Bell; her grandchildren, Brenda (Jay) Scott, Todd (Natalie) McClelland, Michelle (Jay) Gault, Scott (Jody) Alvey, David Bell, Angela Bell, Nicole Bell, Dan Bell, Heather Baker, Steven Bell, and Bradley (Jillian) Bell; and her 12 great grandchildren.
After retiring from Ohio Valley ER in Steubenville, she devoted her time taking care of young children. She was an active member of Voice of Pentecost in Weirton, WV. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who touched the lives and hearts of everyone she met. She showed God’s love to others in many beautiful, caring, and loving ways. She loved to pray for others and sing worship songs. She had an amazing love for the Lord. She was Grammy to everyone and absolutely loved the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The family would like to thank Trinity East and West, Sienna Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation, and the Valley Hospice staff for their compassionate care and support.
Friends will be received on Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd, Wintersville, OH, 43953, from 11 A.M. until time of services at 1 P.M. with Pastor Ron Holley and Rev. Steven E. Bell officiating. Entombment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
